TOEFL Preparation

TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) is an English test designed to measure their mastery of  English language whose native language isn’t English. TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) has been recognized as a method designed specifically for measuring competence in English. This test was developed and organized by ETS (Educational Testing Service),  a non-profit organization based in the United States and was first held in 1964. The TOEFL score is usually become one of the entry requirements in 2400 number of universities in the United States, Canada and 80 other countries world.
 There are four sections tested in the TOEFL / TOEFL Scoring:
Listening Comprehension. This section is to test the ability of candidates in listening speech or spoken language in English. Media conversations can be derived from a tape recorder, audio , or even directly from a conversation between two people.
Structure and Written Expression. This section is used to determine the ability gramatical test participants, including the styles of writing in English . Participants are expected to choose the answer that best completes the sentence and also must find a wrong word in the sentence.
Reading Comprehension. This section is intended to determine the test participants' understanding of texts written in English. In general, the test participants are expected to answer questions about the meaning, ideas, information that is specific and particular vocabulary contained in the readings were tested.
Test of Written English (TWE). This section is devoted to determine the ability of the test participants to perform writing in English. In this test, a participant is given a specific topic or theme and then asked to write ideas on that theme. But not all TOEFL test examined the TWE, even just a little bit that include it as one of the test material. TWE score is given separately from the overall TOEFL score. Assessment scale ranges from 1-6.
There are two types of TOEFL test, namely 1) Paper and Pencil Based TOEFL; and 2) Computer Based TOEFL. The first type of the TOEFL test is the TOEFL test that we know so far, in which both questions and answers done by using paper and pencil. And than  the second type of the TOEFL test is a relatively new test models for the first time introduced in 1998. As stated in its name, this test used a computer , because the candidates will answer this test via computer.

Usually, the TOEFL test will contains something about  United States, both its cultural, political, social environment, and others. So, for prepare the TOEFL we must not only learn grammar, Part of speech, and other  about english in theory, but we also learn about the situation and condition in the United States.
